Show Table of Contents News ArchiveBUG: AppShadow stopped redirecting registry access in some cases AppShadow has been updated so closing calls to root handles are now properly handled.
CreateHardLink: Create and display information about hard links CreateHardLink lets you create hard links and display information about them.
SessionInfo: Information about Terminal Server sessions SessionInfo lets you display information about
Terminal Server sessions from script.
UPDATE: Registry virtualization per process AppShadow is out!
With it you can give every process its own registry (HKLM, HKCU). Now you can start installing different versions of
Microsoft Office on the same machine without hassle.
Redirection of OutputDebugString() across terminal server sessionsWith the new tool DbgViewRedir
you can monitor OutputDebugString() messages from different terminal server
and mirror them to your local session. Works with standard debuggers and tools like
Sysinternals: DebugView.
Internet Explorer Maintenance Group Policy is not appliedWhen trying to run the Microsoft Internet 6.0 Explorer as a published application on a server running Windows 2003 Server Group Policies are not applied (Microsoft and Citrix confirm this erratic behaviour).
Apart from this observation there are other features that do not work as expected when running programm without the Windows Explorer shell.
In order to avoid this I would like to present a small utility that detects and hides the Windows Explorer shell and thus allows programs to operate normally in Terminal Server
environments (both RDP and ICA based). See my Knowledge Base article HOWTO: Detecting and Hiding Windows Explorer Shell for further details.
Source code is available upon request. Citrix Server-to-Client redirection does not work as expectedBy installing a hotfix for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 Q832894
(also known as MS04-004 security update) the Citrix feature Server-to-Client redirection does not work
as expected on all servers any more. See article (german only)
ERROR: Citrix Server-to-Client Umleitung funktioniert nicht wie erwartet
for further details.
2003-12-07The functionality of these pages has been extended:
XML Toolbox2003-12-04Recently I had the opportunity to review a VPN-Appliance called Intermate Trustgate. Read the review on my new Trustgate page (currently only available in german).
2003-11-08I made an update to my No Brainers tools. There you find IniMod, a small program you can use to change ini files from the command line.
2003-10-15Added an important note regarding Microsoft Exchange 5.5 with Internet Mail Connector (IMC) installed. It might be possible to use Exchange as an open SMTP and/or FAX relay! Currently available only in german language.Note: when viewing these pages with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 (or worse), do not expect to much. First, the support for standards (HTML, CSS) in this product is poor. Second, Microsoft will end its support for it soon. 2003-09-08It has been nearly 6 months since I made changes to these web pages... but now something has changed (at least under the hood)!
Building these web pages (currently only available in German). Enjoy!
2003-03-31For a discussion about Windows memory management and Terminal Services I provided a VirtualAlloc so that you can test for yourself what and how much memory Windows 2000 allocates user processes.
2003-03-26The new Knowledge Base section shows you a simple implementation of a knowledge base structure you can use for easy documentation of errors or other useful information.2003-03-16Now all pages are also available in English.I adjusted the layout of the knowledge base articles to make them more attractive. See RegTimeStamp section for an example.
2003-03-13There were some problems after inserting the English pages so some pages could not be displayed. I apologize for the inconvenience. As you can see I translated the web pages into English. If you want to help improve the quality of the translation you are very welcome to do so... 2003-03-12I released RegTimeStamp. With this ActiveX control you can read and write time stamps of virtually any registry key.
