Only loosely related to IT - at least it is about OSI Layer 1 and I heard Commodore used the DIN45326 connectors as well. This article tells you about how to make your custom coulour/size PowerLink cable that is much smaller than the original thick PowerLink cable.

2009-04-18: Servers Alive plugin with Windows Script Components

Servers Alive is a monitoring and alerting software from Woodstone. Though this software has a bunch of integrated test methods it allows for expansion and customization via an ActiveX COM interface. See this document on how to customize and get the most out of this software (including an easy way to write flexible WSC plugins).

2009-04-18: Testing Outlook RPC over HTTPS with WFetch

When setting up Microsoft Outlook for use with RPC over HTTP(s) you cannot test its connectivity with a web browser like Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. The reason for this is because Microsoft Outlook uses some special HTTP verbs other than "GET", "HEAD" and "POST" for requesting data from the Microsoft Exchange server. However, you can use Microsoft WFetch 1.4 which is available for free download to simulate Outlook's requests.

2004-09-01: Internet Explorer Maintenance Group Policy is not applied

When trying to run the Microsoft Internet 6.0 Explorer as a published application on a server running Windows 2003 Server Group Policies are not applied (Microsoft and Citrix confirm this erratic behaviour). Apart from this observation there are other features that do not work as expected when running programm without the Windows Explorer shell. In order to avoid this I would like to present a small utility that detects and hides the Windows Explorer shell and thus allows programs to operate normally in Terminal Server environments (both RDP and ICA based). See my Knowledge Base article HOWTO: Detecting and Hiding Windows Explorer Shell for further details.
